Kerem Ali Boyla (Birdwatcher and Ecologist)
Kerem started birding at age 13 when his aunt came back from UK with a bird book present and quickly advanced with the help of a German highschool teacher. After studying biology and ecology, he moved to Ecuador and worked with BirdLife International and published the IBA inventory of Andean countries. Since 2005 he went back in Turkey, and started guiding bird tours. He co-authored the only reference book on the Birds of Turkey and translated two field guides into Turkish. He is the manager of Turkish bird database "Kusbank". He speak English, German and Spanish, and the native Turkish. Kerem lives in Istanbul, under the migration route of storks, eagles and buzzards! Soner Bekir (Birdwatcher and Bird Photographer)
I have always been in nature since my childhood in Eastern Thrace in Greece. When I moved to Turkey for university study, I met with the birding community here. Since 2002 I have been guiding tourists, particularly for the rarest birds of Turkey. I have been to the most inaccessible parts of Turkey in NE, E, and SE parts of the country. I have currently the highest Turkish list. I have found two new species for Turkey, Siberian Accentor and Lapland Bunting (Sandgrouse Volume 29-1), and discovered a breeding site for Brown Fish Owl (Dutch Birding 31-4) with Arnold van den Berg. Eray Çağlayan (Birdwatcher and Tourist Guide)
Eray is an enthusiastic birder and a licensed tourist guide. After finishing the Tourism and Hotel Management 2001, he started birding with Istanbul Birdwatching Society and his life changed for ever. In 2003 he joined the BirdLife partner in Turkey and organised Midwinter Waterfowl Counts and Turkish Birdwatching Conferences. In the last years he has been surveyor for Important Bird Areas and brown bears in Northern and Eastern Anatolia where he has also lead hiking, birding and bear-watching tours.
